Yaffy’s PSU suits feature C6 technology and are compliant with British Standard 7971-10:2014. Let’s take a deeper look at the next generation of PSU textile.

Yaffy’s Police Support Unit (PSU) suit range includes three FR Meta Aramid lightweight, textile, stand-alone suits:

  • 1 Layer, 2 piece (459 & 460)
  • 2 Layer, 2 piece (355 & 470)
  • 2 Layer, 1 piece (165)

The suits feature an elasticated back, waist tie adjuster, hip patch, flap pockets, outside leg hem gusset with zip, fully lined inner, radio loops, internal radio cable feature, fully elasticated cuff, FR sewn on Police badges, and patch-flap and ID pockets.

The 2 layer, 1 piece (165) and the 2 Layer, 2 piece (355 & 470) suits are made from 1241 fabric, comprising of 170gsm plain weave ripstop, 87% Meta Aramid, 11% Para Aramid and 2% Anti-Static. The 1 Layer, 2 piece (459 & 460) is made from 1250 fabric comprising of 270gsm plain weave ripstop, 59% Meta Aramid, 40% Para Aramid and 1% Anti-Static.

Yaffy’s Police Support Unit (PSU) suits, featuring C6 technology, are Module B and Module D certified and are fully compliant with the British Standard 7971-10:2014 (excluding 4.6.3.7, 4.6.3.10 and 4.6.4.3.12).

The Module B certification means that Yaffy’s PSU suits have undergone independent testing to prove compliance with the British Standard 7971-10:2014. Yaffy has aligned itself with industry innovators who achieved this ahead of the 6th June 2023 deadline.

Module D certification demonstrates that Yaffy’s manufacturing sites are fully compliant and are approved by Independent third-party auditors. Controls are all in place for full transparency, from fabric production to garment manufacture. Inner garment care labels state fabric roll identification for the life cycle of the garment, giving full traceability of each individual garment by wearers.

What is C6 technology?

C6 technology replaced C8 for use in PPE textiles, and from 6th June 2023 is now the legal requirement for all newly manufactured PPE textiles, including Police Support Unit (PSU) suits.

The European Union updated regulations for chemical use in textiles in retail in 2020, stating that the contents of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in C8 did not meet environmental protection requirements and are forbidden to be used. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS, have been extensively produced and the most studied of these chemicals.

What do people have to say about Yaffy’s PSU suits?

“As a Tactical Advisor, I get set on fire about 35 times a year and have been doing it for 33 years. Yaffy makes the best PSU suits and it’s the only suit I will ever wear. Our suit in the US is designed to wear in 110-degree weather. I have championed to get Yaffy’s PSU suit written into the US National Public Order Standard for Equipment.”
