Police officers, staff, and dedicated volunteers were celebrated in style at the Quality Policing Awards, a black-tie event hosted by West Mercia Police on Friday, 31st January 2025. The awards recognised those who went above and beyond the call of duty to protect communities across Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Worcestershire.

With a total of 11 awards, more than 30 nominees were put forward by either colleagues or members of the public. These individuals were commended for their outstanding bravery, selflessness, and commitment to making a positive difference. Among the nominees were officers who put their lives on the line to protect others, as well as those who went the extra mile to support their communities.

A distinguished panel of judges reviewed each nominee based on strict criteria. The selection process emphasised high-quality work, measurable outcomes, and an inspiring contribution. Winners and runner-ups were ultimately chosen for their exceptional service in upholding public safety.

The event’s success was made possible through generous sponsorship. Notably, Yaffy, a proud sponsor of the Prevention and Problem Solving Award, played a key role. The award celebrated creative and innovative approaches to problem solving, and saw Commercial Director, Roger Foster, present the award to the deserving recipients, while Business Development Manager Vince Rippon and Head of New Business Development Sharon Archer were also in attendance.

The Prevention and Problem Solving Award honored PC Scott Gee, Inspector Steph Arrowsmith, James Iles, Mark McCann, and Rhys Atkinson as they teamed up with Mark McCann, a multiple motor racing champion, car enthusiast and YouTube personality. Together, they created a powerful video on the consequences of driving under the influence of drugs. With over 350,000 views, the video not only reached the intended audience but inspired many to reflect on their past actions. This innovative and creative approach has the potential to save lives and make our roads safer.

The Quality Policing Awards highlighted the dedication and hard work of those who serve their communities every day, reinforcing the importance of recognising and celebrating outstanding service in law enforcement.

“Yaffy is proud to support the third Quality Policing Awards, a fantastic event that honours those who go above and beyond to protect and serve their communities. We deeply appreciate the brave people who stand on the thin blue line, ensuring public safety and offering vital support to those in need.”
