Founded in 1924, as a raincoat manufacturer, Yaffy, one of the Mi Hub family of brands, is a leading supplier of high performance outerwear and technical clothing to Police Forces, both in the UK & internationally.
Complimented by Mi Hub’s world sourcing, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, Yaffy’s product portfolio includes dog handling, motorcyclist, pedal cyclist and equestrian specialist waterproof clothing for the Police Force, along with PPE and highly technical products such as public order garments to CAST standards, Category lll PPE, waterproof and high conspicuity clothing, along with specialist equipment carriers including taser carriers.
Having initially supplied the Metropolitan Police in London, and then expanding to supply all UK Police Forces with waterproof garments and allied products, Yaffy is on the YPO framework 001026 for PPE for the Emergency Services & Wider Public Sector and Framework 1046 Uniforms & Work Wear for The Emergency Services & Wider Public Sector, along with the ESPO and West Yorkshire Frameworks.
Yaffy is proud to have supplied Police Scotland since its inception in 2013, having previously supplied the separate Scottish forces. In 2020, Yaffy extended the Police Scotland contract to provide trousers, anoraks and soft-shell jackets, equipment carriers, FR coveralls and FR thermal underwear.
With decades of knowledge, Yaffy is trusted amongst the emergency services community and has worked to evolve the product range with technical innovations and garment technologies; including hi-vis jackets & blousons, body armour and public order garments.
All Yaffy public order garments are fully compliant with harmonised standard EN ISO 13688:2013 and technical specification HOSDB, BS 7971-10:2014 (including C1) and manufactured in full compliance with UK and European PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 Module D. The garments are also tested and assessed for life time performance, protection and conformity.
Yaffy’s Riot One garment is a tried, tested and certified product ubiquitously worn by British Police Officers, including the London Metropolitan Police Force. The garment is used in specialist operational situations and in training, to reduce the risk of injury to the wearer, who might be faced with threats such as heat and flames, hazardous and flammable liquids.
With its double cloth construction, which allows for open structure i.e. better breathability, the Riot One garment gives maximum performance in comfort, breathability, ergonomic design and robustness, which allows Police Officers to be effective during long hours on Front Line duty.
The double cloth construction also gives better abrasion resistance, UV stability, colour fastness to light, colour fastness to washing as well as being more flexible and having better strength and thermal integrity due to its “Active Air Entrapment” technology.
The garment also has water and chemical repellence to BS7971 and stain release technology which means the suit will look cleaner for longer.
The suits are designed to fit over trauma protectors and body armour and to allow an air gap to be maintained to reduce thermal conduction. As such, it is imperative that the garment fits correctly for both comfort and performance, which is when Yaffy’s expertise in this field comes into its own, as Yaffy offers a flexible and comprehensive service package which includes support, fitting guidance, garment design, manufacturing, stocking and distribution.
