Yaffy has been awarded a new contract with Northumbria Police to supply Public Support Unit (PSU) suits to 250 officers.
The contract builds on a long-standing relationship between the two organisations, with Yaffy supplying uniform garments to Northumbria Police for over 10 years, including its current range of high-visibility garments.
As part of the procurement process, Yaffy achieved a 100% score for social value, including commitments to Equality and Diversity and Modern Slavery prevention. The submission also scored highly across key evaluation areas including scope, contract management, and product care, reflecting the strength of Yaffy’s technical offering and service approach.
Under the contract, Yaffy will supply its 470/355 PSU Riot Suit, comprising the 470 Riot Jacket and 355 Riot Trouser, both certified to EN 13688:2013 / A1:2021 and BS 7971-10 standards.
Manufactured using 2-layer FR lightweight 1241 fabric, the garments are designed to provide durability, protection and comfort for officers operating in demanding public order environments. The design includes a waist-to-jacket zipper channel to secure the jacket and trousers together, along with practical features such as radio loops, internal radio cable routing, reinforced pockets and elasticated adjustment points to support operational functionality.
The 355 Riot Trouser features an elasticated back, waist tie adjuster, hip patch and flap pockets, an outside leg hem gusset with zip, and a fully lined inner construction.
The 470 Riot Jacket includes patch, flap and ID pockets, radio loops, an internal radio cable feature, FR sewn-on police badges, and fully elasticated cuffs, ensuring both protection and ease of movement.
This award reflects Yaffy’s long-standing commitment to delivering high-performance, technically engineered PSU suits that support policing roles where protection, durability and comfort are critical.
Roger Foster, Commercial Director at Yaffy, said:
"We are delighted to continue our partnership with Northumbria Police through this PSU suit contract. Our focus is always on delivering technically robust garments that provide protection, comfort and reliability in challenging environments."
